Colossus Piano sets a new standard in terms of realism, detail and overall quality of piano sounds on your iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. There are currently 8 acoustic piano models available as 8 individual in-app purchases with this app, plus 5 E-Piano legends bundled as 1 optional sound set. Together those 13 piano models make up 30 Gigabyte of sound material. All keys of all piano models were recorded in full length and with a recording quality of 24 bit and 96 kHz stereo. Like all our audio apps, Colossus Piano is designed as professional, yet easy to use, virtual sound module. The dark brown „Colossus Concert Grand” model is the most detailed piano model of the Colossus Piano app, unveiling a huge dynamic range and subtle details in all articulations. This piano model is available as optional in-app purchase download directly within the app.
The white „Baby Grand” model
The white „Baby Grand” model delivers an extraordinary warm grand piano sound and a high dynamic range. This piano model is available as optional in-app purchase download directly within the app.
The „Upright Piano” model
The „Upright Piano” model resembles the charm of a smoky jazz bar piano, with all its edges, pleasure and versatiliy. This piano model is available as optional in-app purchase download directly within the app.
The „E-Piano” sound set
The „Colossus E-Piano” sound set contains 5 electric piano legends, semi-acoustic as well as pure analogue ones. Various model versions/variations or presets are provided for each.
The „Japanese Grand” model
The „Japanese Grand” model provides a brilliant overall grand piano sound.
The „Classic B Grand” model
The „Classic B Grand” model is based on a well known American/German grand piano and features a very clean overall tone over the entire keyboard and velocity range.
The „Historic S Grand” model
The „Historic S Grand ” model is based on a historic German grand piano, and provides a very good trade-off between model size and tonal quality.
The „Pianino” model
The „Pianino” model provides a modern upright piano sound with state of the art features.
The „Vintage Upright” model
The „Vintage Upright” model features a more edgy tone, with a certain intentional variance in its frequency spectrum. So it is a piano with character.

MIDI Player / Recorder
As with all our audio apps, Colossus Piano comes with a built-in multi-track MIDI player and recorder, which you can use for easy and quick recording your musical ideas without launching and configuring a separate app or external devices. Here is a summary of its features:
You are however not limited to the built-in MIDI player / recorder of course. If you prefer, you can also use any other third party Inter-App Audio capable sequencer or DAW app like i.e. Apple's Garage Band for recording your piano tunes with the sounds of Colossus Piano. Supported DevicesDue to the high quality of the piano models provided by this app, please notice the following hardware requirements for Colossus Piano. Minimum Requirement: at least iPad 3 / iPad Air 1 / iPad mini 2 / iPhone 5 / iPod touch 6th gen. Recommended: iPad Air 2 / iPad mini 4 / iPad Pro / iPhone SE / iPhone 6s or higher.
¹ The adapter and / or the MIDI device you connect must be supported by the iPad / iPhone
operating system in order to be able to use it with this app. To our knowledge there is
currently no official list of supported devices by Apple. We recommend you to check whether
your MIDI keyboard is supported by your iOS version, by using our MIDI monitor app
MIDI Wrench, which is free!

PolyphonySome sounds in this app are using several voices per note. The maximum polyphony depends on the exact device model being used.
Appropriate polyphony is automatically detected and selected for your specific device model by the app for you. If desired however, you can override the polyphony setting manually in the app's settings screen. For example to save CPU head room for other apps running in the background. Please Note: This app requires quite some hardware resources from the device. In case there are problems with this app, please close other apps running in the background.
² The marked younger device models actually support a much higher polyphony than listed above, due to
performance reasons however the polyphony is throttled to 140 stereo voices by
default. You may override this and increase the polyphony on such device models by
accessing the app's settings screen.
